What Photography means to me

 

Photography is viewed in different perspectives when it comes to attempting to define the word. The article of Marvin Heifer-man, 'Photography changes everything' , it gives different perspectives of average intel about photography like Henry Luce giving his significance on what photography means to him. How Henry Luce describes what photography means to him is by saying "To see life, to see the world, to eyewitness great events...".  Henry Luce view on photography seems to be having a perspective of capturing what happens in the picture at the moment. Knowing this information about Henry Luce it shows what he tries to capture in his photos which is "living in the moment" of where the picture took place. Another perspective the article shows is Anthony Weiner who "lost his seat in the U.S congress" because he was caught "sending explicit images to a few female followers on his twitter".  Based on the background information given it gives a clear understanding of his possible answer when asked to define photography. Given these two example it makes me ponder on the idea of how I would define photography because it all depends on the level of emotion and impact the term has on me individually. 

How photography changes everything is by giving us a new ways to interpret things we see on our daily basis. When looking at a photo taken by a professional photographer people are usually wondering what the meaning behind the photo was. People before the picture was taken where probably in the same area and view it as a daily thing they would see or something irrelevant to their life. But with that one photo at a specific area and time it adds meaning to the scenery or item placed in view of the photo. Knowing this information it shows how individuals can look at certain things in their daily lives and not think much of it until someone decides to give it a different view. 

Photography is many different things and can be defined in many different ways so there really isn't a right or wrong way I could define the word. From the knowledge about photography and from what the article Photography changes everything', Photography is an image that can be captured by the use of light and the image that is captured can be anything but the reason behind the specific picture can have a multiple meanings to any individual. The term itself is complex since theres so many things that could be said about photography and how it impacts each individual interested or not interested. Photography is everywhere some overlook the term and value photography has or some view it as knowing its value and wanting to know the history or giving something to add with their own photography. As an individual who has some interest in photography I would say that photography gives more impact to me than it does an average person who would overlook the topic.
