    Edward Weston's pictures can be described as a "second glance". You'd have to look at one of Weston's pictures carefully to understand what you're seeing. Westons photography in Still Life at least can be confusing but interesting to look at. Other styles of his photography are also interesting pictures to look at for a few minutes and try to decipher what the photos could be signifying. Monochrome photography is usually what Weston would use when taking his photos. From other points of view, on Weston's work, he was able to capture the true nature of his subjects. Lee Friedlander

          Lee Friedlander is an American photographer who at first glance was a photographer who seems to pay attention to his surroundings and make a simple view into something unique. Within his photos he uses framing and reflections and the way he captures those elements in his photos is intriguing and draws you into wanting to go to the exact place. Frielander is commonly known for his street in his photos in where he takes streets from cities or windows from stores and makes reflections of himself or others. One of the quotes that represents Freidlander type of photography is when he says "You go out and the pictures are staring at you"(Artnet.com).   Steve McCurry is an American photographer from Philadelphia, PA who has created images "retaining the human element"(Steve McCurry.com/bio). What makes McCurry image captivating is "The Human Element" which is photos that have people in an image. McCurry uses people of different backgrounds, cultures, or traditions. The photo of the "Afghan girl" shows McCurry representing a beautiful child who seems to be distraught or concerned. Within the photo he captures emotions of Sharbat Gula while she looks at the camera making the appearance seem so intriguing into finding the symbolism in it.
