Edward Weston
Edward Weston's pictures can be described as a "second glance". You'd have to look at one of Weston's pictures carefully to understand what you're seeing. Westons photography in Still Life at least can be confusing but interesting to look at. Other styles of his photography are also interesting pictures to look at for a few minutes and try to decipher what the photos could be signifying. Monochrome photography is usually what Weston would use when taking his photos. From other points of view, on Weston's work, he was able to capture the true nature of his subjects. Giving a new perspective with his photos he could introduce a new modern type of photography.
Weston was a big influence in the modern era it took Weston like other famous photographers a while to figure out what he wanted to do with his pictures and what he wanted to achieve. There are many instances where Weston had faced challenges when he tried to find inspiration. Later on, he was able to achieve the turning point of his career by introducing a sort of abstract type of still life. The pictures that are shown below and Westons' Still Life photos, in general, all show how distinctive it was at that time. The way he can use different fruits or vegetables and place them a certain way where the fruit or vegetable loses the ability to recognize them is something remarkable.
As described before Weston's still life photography is like a "second glance" since you're looking at these fruits and how they're placed. Well for the most part is what I'd pay attention to since there are times when he uses multiple or a single fruit/vegetables. In most of the photos, there is one single fruit or vegetable and the placement and angle give it an interesting view. The placement and angle are key to understanding what Weston wanted to achieve and that is something different to the public eye. Overall, the still life photos that Weston produced were interesting photos that caused future photographers to be inspired and create something similar to still life.
